A 37-year-old man from Walpole Island First Nation sustained life-threatening injuries in a single-vehicle collision early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred just before 6 a.m. on Chiefs Road within Walpole Island First Nation, according to Ontario Provincial Police. He was initially transported by ambulance to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance before being airlifted to Victoria Hospital in London for further treatment.
Chiefs Road remained closed for several hours while authorities examined the scene. The Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton County OPP are leading the ongoing investigation, with support from the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team. Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Lambton County OPP or Crime Stoppers.
