One person was taken to hospital following a head-on collision in Tavistock on Friday morning. Ontario Provincial Police Const. Matthew Foster said the crash, involving an SUV and a commercial van, occurred around 11:30 a.m.
Highway 59 was closed in both directions between Maplewood Sideroad and Oxford Road 34 shortly after the incident. According to police, one driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital, while the other was uninjured.
The SUV driver now faces charges under both the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act.
Update – A 31-year-old man from Norfolk County faces charges for dangerous driving, cocaine possession, and operating a vehicle while his license was suspended.
