A Sunday afternoon house fire in Barrie drew a major emergency response to Georgian Drive and Johnson Street. Crews were called around 12:30 p.m., and police shut down the area as more than a dozen firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

According to Fire Chief Kevin White, the home sustained significant damage. Everyone inside managed to get out safely, though one person was taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Barrie police continue to assist with traffic control, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
