Fire crews battled a significant house fire in Alliston early Thursday morning.
Emergency responders were dispatched to a home on Renaissance Point at about 8:25 a.m., where they encountered heavy smoke and flames. Firefighters initiated a defensive strategy to contain the blaze, which officials later described as extensively involved before it was brought under control.
One woman was transported to Stevenson Memorial Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. The severity of her condition has not been disclosed.
Town of New Tecumseth Fire Chief Dan P. Heydon said two neighbouring properties also sustained damage. An investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been assigned to determine the cause of the fire.
