A 30-year-old Oshawa man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash that left an e-bike rider seriously injured.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, near Somerville Street and Taunton Road West. Durham police say the e-bike rider was heading north on Somerville when a van, travelling east on Taunton, struck them. The van driver reportedly left the scene without providing assistance.
The injured e-bike rider was taken to a trauma centre in the Toronto area with serious injuries. Police later located the suspected driver, Tyler Donovan, at a residence in Oshawa, where he was arrested without incident.
Donovan is charged with failing to remain and report an accident, careless driving causing bodily harm, and driving with a suspended licence. Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or information related to the crash.
