An individual was taken to hospital after a morning fire in Oshawa that also forced a temporary road closure.
The blaze broke out on Cordova Road, just south of Highway 401 and east of Park Road South. Oshawa Fire Services reported shortly after 6:15 a.m. that crews were actively fighting the fire, though the type of building involved was not specified.
According to the Durham Regional Police Service, one person was transported to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Firefighters had extinguished the flames by just before 7 a.m. and remained on scene to carry out overhaul work and test air quality inside the structure.
Cordova Road was closed in both directions between Oxford Street and Park Road South during the response but has since reopened.
