An Ottawa woman is facing multiple charges after a late-night collision on Highway 417. Police say the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Monday, when a vehicle travelling eastbound near Carling Avenue struck the centre barrier. Despite the airbags deploying, the driver continued moving along the highway.
Dashcam footage released by police shows the vehicle hitting the barrier, veering toward an off-ramp, spinning, and then returning to active traffic. Officers later located the vehicle and arrested 28-year-old Claudia Castellanos Munoz, who was believed to be impaired and allegedly refused to provide a breath sample.
She is now charged with impaired operation, refusing a demand for a sample, dangerous driving, assaulting a peace officer, failing to remain at and report a collision, and operating an unsafe vehicle. Her licence has been suspended for 90 days, the vehicle impounded for a week, and she is required to appear in court.
