A single-vehicle crash closed a major intersection in north-end Bradford on Tuesday afternoon. Around 2:30 p.m., a pickup truck struck two hydro poles at Yonge Street and Line 8, knocking them down and causing power outages for over 2,000 customers. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
Hydro and fire crews responded to the scene, and as of 4:15 p.m., about 900 customers were still without power. Full restoration was expected between 6 and 8 p.m.
The intersection and surrounding roads were closed to allow for investigation and hydro repairs. South Simcoe police advised motorists to avoid the area and take alternate routes. The investigation remains ongoing.
