Grey Bruce Public Health is seeking assistance in identifying the owners of dogs involved in two separate bite incidents in Owen Sound and Hanover.
The first incident occurred June 23 between 11:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. near the duck pond at Harrison Park in Owen Sound. A child was bitten after a woman walking two leashed dogs lost control of them. The animals were described as a blond retriever mix and a brindle-coloured medium-sized dog of an unknown breed.
The second incident happened around 7:30 p.m. June 24 outside an apartment building at 160 11th Avenue in Hanover. An individual was bitten by a large black dog believed to be a Bull Mastiff-type. The dog was unaccompanied, though the victim suspects its owner lives nearby.
Public health officials are working to confirm the dogs are free of rabies, which could spare the victims from undergoing post-exposure rabies treatment.
