A 28-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle in Etobicoke on Tuesday evening.

Police and paramedics responded to a call around 7:20 p.m. near Dundas Street West and Acorn Avenue after reports of a pedestrian collision. The victim was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators have not confirmed whether the man was crossing the street at a designated crosswalk at the time of the incident. The driver involved stayed at the scene and is assisting police, and no charges have been announced.

The area was temporarily shut down as officers conducted a collision reconstruction. Authorities are asking anyone who saw the incident or has dashcam footage to come forward and contact investigators.

Update – Toronto police have charged the driver, identified as 25-year-old Joseph Daniel Alvarado Portillo of Mississauga, with dangerous operation of a conveyance.
