A pedestrian who was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle in North York on Sunday afternoon has died. The collision occurred near Keele Street and Gulliver Road, south of Lawrence Avenue West, in the Brookhaven–Amesbury area. Officers were called to the scene just before 3 p.m. after reports of a pedestrian being hit.
The victim, later identified as a 76-year-old man, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead later that evening. Police say the driver of a red pickup truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The collision reconstruction unit is continuing its investigation, and southbound Keele Street south of Lawrence was temporarily closed but is expected to reopen. Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam or security footage from the area to contact Traffic Services or Crime Stoppers.
