A 24-year-old man was struck and killed in Brampton early Thursday morning, prompting a police investigation.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. near McLaughlin Road and Kingknoll Drive. The pedestrian was taken to hospital with critical injuries but later died. The driver remained at the scene, police said.

As the Major Collision Bureau investigates, McLaughlin Road was closed between Steeles Avenue and Kingknoll Drive. The road later reopened at around 7:30 a.m..
