Two teenagers have been charged after a stolen vehicle investigation that ended with a pedestrian being struck in Huntsville.
Ontario Provincial Police began searching for the vehicle shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday after receiving information that a car reported stolen from a Johnson Street parking lot in Barrie around 4 p.m. was travelling toward Gravenhurst. Officers from several OPP detachments, along with aviation services, joined the search.
The stolen vehicle was later located in Huntsville after it allegedly struck a pedestrian and fled the scene. The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Police found the abandoned vehicle on Ravenscliffe Road at about 8 p.m. before arresting two suspects following an extensive search.
A 16-year-old from Huntsville is charged with dangerous operation causing bodily harm, failing to stop after an accident resulting in bodily harm, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and three counts of failing to comply with a release order.
A 14-year-old Huntsville youth faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Both teenagers are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge at a later date.
