A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a pickup truck late Monday morning in Elgin County, according to the Ontario Provincial Police.
The incident occurred around 11:40 a.m. on John Wise Line, between Sunset and River roads, just outside St. Thomas. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the pedestrian to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup truck was not injured. Police have not confirmed whether any charges will be filed as the investigation continues.
Update – The pedestrian is identified to be a 17-year-old and the pickup truck driver is a 57-year-old resident of Elgin County.
