A 65-year-old man died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing Eglinton Avenue East near Torrance Road in Scarborough late Saturday night, according to Toronto police. The collision occurred just before 10 p.m. as the man was reportedly crossing from the south side and was struck in the center lane.
Emergency responders found him with life-threatening injuries and transported him to the hospital, where he later died. The 41-year-old driver remained at the scene. It is not yet known if charges will be laid.
Eastbound Eglinton Avenue East was closed at McCowan Road for the police investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with dashcam or security footage of the incident to come forward.
