A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a train early Monday morning in Ingersoll.

Emergency crews responded to the incident around 5:10 a.m. on Mutual Street North. The collision occurred near a heavily wooded rail line just east of Ingersoll Street North. OPP and CN Rail officials investigated the scene, and the train was cleared to proceed at approximately 9:40 a.m.

Road closures were in place on Mutual Street North (between Carnegie Street and Wilson Street) and Thames Street South (between Carnegie Street and Oxford Lane), but all have since reopened.
