Springwater Fire and other emergency responders responded to a residential blaze Saturday afternoon in Elmvale.

Fire crews arrived to find the home heavily involved, with intense flames and thick smoke limiting visibility. At the time, it was unknown whether anyone was inside, prompting firefighters to enter the structure to conduct a search. As conditions rapidly deteriorated, crews shifted from an interior attack to a defensive strategy to continue fighting the fire from outside.

No injuries were reported, though a family pet died as a result of the fire. Around 30 firefighters worked together to contain the blaze, bringing it under control within approximately 90 minutes of their arrival.

Officials estimate the property damage at about $500,000. Preliminary findings indicate the fire was caused by an electrical issue.
