A 61-year-old Pickering woman is in critical condition following a two-vehicle collision in Ajax on Sunday evening.
The crash occurred around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Kingston Road and Chapman Drive, where a blue Toyota Corolla and a black Honda Accord collided, according to Durham Regional Police.
The 60-year-old woman driving the Toyota sustained minor injuries, while her passenger was airlifted to a Toronto trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda, an 18-year-old Pickering man, was not injured. His two passengers—an 18-year-old woman and a 19-year-old woman—were treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
The DRPS Collision Investigation Unit closed the intersection for several hours to investigate. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
