Police are investigating a serious head-on collision on Highway 40 in Lambton County that left one person with life-threatening injuries. The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. Thursday, south of Oil Springs Line, involving a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck.

Emergency responders, including Lambton OPP, EMS, Ornge Air Ambulance, and St. Clair Township fire crews, were quickly on the scene.

The 46-year-old driver of the pickup, from Welland, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the tractor-trailer driver was unharmed. Highway 40 was closed for several hours between Courtright Line and Bickford Line but has since reopened.
