A 15-year-old died and another teen was seriously injured in a crash involving an e-bike and a pickup truck in Sault Ste. Marie early Sunday, April 20. The collision occurred around 1:00 a.m. on Goulais Avenue.
Police responded to 911 calls and found paramedics performing lifesaving efforts on the two teens. Both were rushed to the hospital, where one of the teens was pronounced dead, and the other sustained serious injuries.
Investigators determined that an 18-year-old driving a pickup truck northbound on Goulais Avenue struck the teens’ e-bike as he attempted to turn left onto Third Line West. The driver was arrested and is currently in custody, with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
