Police are searching for a pit bull after it allegedly attacked a pedestrian Thursday afternoon in Hensall. Responding around 1 p.m., an officer fired at the dog, which then fled and remains at large.
The person attacked was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The dog, described as a white and black pit bull weighing about 120 pounds, was last seen running south past an elementary school—where students were kept indoors—through a farm, and into nearby woods west of London Road.
Authorities warn the public not to approach the dog and to contact OPP immediately if spotted.
Update – The dog has been found and quarantined. The owner is also now facing charges.
