A building in downtown Barrie remains cordoned off with yellow police tape after an early morning fire on Tuesday.
The fire, reported around 4 a.m. at 1 Dunlop Street, prompted an initial response of five fire trucks. Barrie Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Chief Eric MacFadden noted that the response was later reduced to three trucks after crews assessed the scene.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury, but no other injuries were reported. While it’s still unclear if nearby businesses were affected, police expressed concerns about the age of the building and potential damage to neighboring properties.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, with authorities continuing their active inquiry.
