Peel police are searching for a motorcyclist involved in a hit-and-run that seriously injured an officer in Mississauga on Tuesday evening.
According to police, around 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, officers tried to stop a man riding an off-road motorcycle, performing dangerous stunts near Eglinton Avenue and Erin Mills Parkway. During the attempted arrest, the motorcyclist collided with a marked police cruiser, striking a uniformed officer who was trying to make the arrest.
The suspect fled the scene at high speed, and the injured officer was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a man, aged 15-20, wearing a black helmet, black sweater, and black pants. The motorcycle is believed to be electric-powered and dark in colour. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
