A 39-year-old resident of Malartic, Quebec is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash last month in Kirkland Lake.
Officers with the Ontario Provincial Police responded to Alwende Street around 10 p.m. on Jan. 28, where they found a vehicle lodged in a snowbank. The driver was not injured.
Police said their investigation determined the motorist had been drinking. The individual was arrested and taken to the local OPP detachment for further testing.
Following the investigation, the driver was charged with two impaired driving offences, including operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit. The accused received an automatic 90-day licence suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The driver has since been released and is set to appear in court on March 5.
