Ottawa police are leading an investigation after an on-duty RCMP officer was hit and injured by a vehicle Thursday evening on the George Etienne Cartier Parkway.
The officer, who had been responding to an earlier collision as part of the RCMP’s proactive traffic unit, was struck around 5:30 p.m. Ottawa police arrived first, provided medical aid and arranged transport to hospital. The officer’s injuries were considered non-life-threatening, and their condition remained stable later that evening.
The parkway was closed for several hours while municipal authorities examined the scene.
