A 37-year-old Guelph man is facing multiple charges following a rear-end collision that police say involved impaired and dangerous driving.
Guelph police were called to the intersection of Eramosa Road and Delhi Street around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday after a woman reported being struck from behind and suspected the other driver was impaired.
Officers who responded noted a strong odour of alcohol on the man’s breath and observed signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken to the police station, where testing showed his blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
Police also determined the man was required to have an ignition interlock device due to a prior impaired driving conviction. He has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and driving while prohibited.
As a result of the charges, his driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was seized for 45 days.
