Two dogs died in a residential fire Saturday morning in Windsor’s east end, according to Windsor Fire and Rescue Services.

Fire crews responded to the blaze at a home on Wyandotte Street East, near Jefferson Boulevard, around 8:15 a.m. One firefighter was assessed by paramedics at the scene, though the nature of the injury was not disclosed. The damages caused by the fire are about $600,000.

The fire prompted the closure of Wyandotte Street in both directions between Patrice Drive and St. Rose Avenue for several hours. The roadway has since reopened, and the cause is determined to be accidental.
