A fire at an apartment building in Goderich Friday night has left residents displaced. Emergency crews responded to the blaze around 11:20 p.m. on Nelson Street, and firefighters remained on site until at least 2 a.m. Saturday.

As a result of the fire, residents from both Brock Street and Nelson Street East were evacuated. A warming center was set up at the Knights of Columbus building, and no injuries have been reported. Nelson Street was closed between Cambria Road North and Albert Street for safety.

Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet expressed relief that no one was injured, emphasizing the community’s well-being as a top priority and thanking emergency services for their swift response.
