A fire caused an estimated $400,000 in damage to a Kitchener home early Sunday morning, though no injuries were reported.

Kitchener Fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire on Ahrens Street West at about 1:47 a.m. Officials say the blaze is believed to have started on a covered porch before spreading.

All occupants were able to safely evacuate the residence and were checked by Waterloo Region Emergency Medical Services. No injuries were reported.

Four fire crews responded to the scene and remained on-site into the morning to secure the property while investigators examined the origin of the fire. The cause has not yet been determined.
