Nine fire trucks and 30 firefighters responded to a basement fire at a home in Oro-Medonte on Saturday night.

Fire crews received a call shortly after 9 p.m. about smoke coming from a residence on Best Court. While firefighters were on their way, the caller reported that the basement was on fire.

Crews quickly brought the blaze under control within 20 minutes of arriving. Everyone inside the home evacuated safely after the smoke alarms activated, and no injuries were reported.

Although firefighters contained the flames to the basement, smoke caused significant damage throughout the house.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
