A road construction worker was seriously injured after being struck by a passenger vehicle in Stouffville early Tuesday morning.
York Regional Police responded to the incident around 3:15 a.m. on Stouffville Road between Warden Avenue and Kennedy Road. The injured worker was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Paramedics also assessed a second person at the scene, though that individual was not taken to hospital. Police have confirmed the worker was hit by a passenger vehicle, and the Ontario Ministry of Labour is investigating the incident.
Road closures remain in place, and motorists are being advised to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
