Two adults were critically injured following a house fire in Scarborough early Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews were dispatched to a two-alarm blaze on Snowball Crescent, near Sheppard Avenue and Washburn Way, at about 5:30 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames visible on the main floor of the home.
Crews rescued the two occupants from the second floor and rushed them to hospital with life-threatening injuries. They were the only people inside the residence at the time. Fire officials say the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, though the most significant damage was found on the upper level.
No firefighters were hurt, nearby homes were not affected, and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified.
Update – One of the victims, identified as Rebecca Sosa, has died from her injuries. The other victim, identified as the deceased victim’s husband Amadeo (Deo) Sosa, remains critically injured.
