A fire at a seniors’ apartment complex in Kincardine has forced numerous residents from their homes, with all displaced tenants now having found or received assistance securing temporary accommodation.

The blaze broke out Friday at Cedar Grove Apartments, located at 915 Huron Terrace. Fire crews from two Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services stations responded, supported by firefighters from Huron-Kinloss, and brought the fire under control.

The Davidson Centre was opened as an emergency evacuation site to provide affected seniors with shelter, information and support.

Bruce County and the Municipality of Kincardine confirmed that arrangements have been made to ensure all displaced residents have access to safe temporary housing. No injuries have been reported.

Restoration companies and contractors were at the apartment complex on Tuesday working to repair the building and prepare it for residents to return. However, officials have not announced when tenants may be able to move back into their homes.
