A serious three-vehicle collision on Highway 401 in Tecumseh left two people injured and caused significant traffic disruptions on Friday. Emergency services, including the Essex County OPP, Essex-Windsor EMS, and Tecumseh Fire and Rescue, responded to the crash around 10:43 a.m.
The westbound lanes of Highway 401 were closed between Puce Road and County Road 46 in Maidstone for the investigation, reopening at 4 p.m. that same day. One driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, another with serious injuries, while the third driver was uninjured.
Ornge Air Ambulance was on scene but was not needed for transport. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or through their online reporting system. Anonymous tips can be directed to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, with a possible reward of up to $2,000.
Update – A 22-year-old Brampton driver has been charged in connection to the collision.
