A section of Highway 11 in northern Ontario has reopened after being shut down Tuesday afternoon due to a serious collision involving a transport truck and an SUV.

Ontario Provincial Police announced the closure shortly before 2:30 p.m., affecting the stretch of highway between Highway 112 and Highway 66. In an update just after 3 p.m., police said one person was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Motorists had been urged to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the closure was in place, as significant delays were expected.
