A single-vehicle crash caused an extended closure of Highway 24 between Cambridge and Brantford on Thursday.
Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly before 5 a.m. following reports of a collision between Blue Lake Road and German School Road. Traffic was diverted while responders worked in the area, leading to significant delays at both ends of the highway.
Ontario Provincial Police said the crash damaged hydro infrastructure, requiring repair crews to remain on site for several hours. GrandBridge Energy confirmed the incident triggered a power outage affecting more than 1,200 customers in and around the St. George area.
Highway 24 reopened fully by about 1:30 p.m., with electricity restored to affected residents around the same time.
