One person has died and three others were taken to hospital following a serious two-vehicle crash in Pickering, according to Durham Regional Police Service.
The collision occurred around 8 p.m. on Feb. 27 on Brock Road, just north of Taunton Road. Investigators say a sedan travelling southbound lost control, crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a pickup truck.
An 18-year-old passenger in the sedan was pronounced dead. A 21-year-old passenger was ejected from the vehicle and transported to a Toronto trauma centre, where they remain in life-threatening condition. Two other occupants of the sedan — a 58-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman — were taken to a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.
The pickup truck driver was assessed at the scene and did not require further treatment.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
