A serious collision involving a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle closed a section of Highway 11/17 west of Thunder Bay Tuesday afternoon.
Ontario Provincial Police said the crash occurred near the Mapleward Road intersection. The highway was shut down in both directions between the Highway 61 and Harbour Expressway intersection and Twin City Crossroad.
Police described the collision as serious, but no details about possible injuries were immediately available.
The closure affected traffic in both directions while emergency crews and investigators responded to the scene.
