Windsor firefighters responded Thursday morning to a reported structure fire at an industrial site on the city’s west side.
Crews were called to the Hearn plant on GN Booth Drive before 8:30 a.m., where they initially found light smoke coming from the building. The facility was evacuated after a welding operation reportedly sparked ignition of materials, leading to the fire.
Fire officials say the situation was brought under control by about 9:30 a.m.
One person was taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation, another was being evaluated by paramedics, and a third individual was treated at the scene and released, according to fire prevention officials.
The extent of the damage has not yet been determined. The Ministry of Labour has been notified as the investigation continues.
Authorities are advising the public to stay away from the area while crews remain on site.
