Three people were injured, including one with life-threatening injuries, after a single-vehicle crash in Chatham-Kent Thursday night.

Police responded to the collision on Communication Road around 8:13 p.m. Their investigation found that a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Chatham man lost control and left the roadway.

Two passengers were inside the vehicle: a 25-year-old man from Blenheim and a 16-year-old girl from Chatham. Both were injured and taken to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. The teenage girl was later transferred to Victoria Hospital in London for additional treatment.

Because of the seriousness of the crash and the injuries, the Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Management Unit took over the investigation.

Communication Road was closed for several hours but has since reopened. The investigation is ongoing.
