Two people were taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after a collision involving a Toronto police cruiser and another vehicle near the waterfront Monday afternoon.
The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. near Queens Quay and Lower Sherbourne Street during a vehicle stop. Police said contact occurred between the cruiser and the other vehicle.
Five people were assessed by Toronto paramedics at the scene. Two were transported to hospital with serious injuries, although it was not immediately confirmed whether either was a police officer.
Police said one person initially fled the scene on foot but was arrested nearby. A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries that had not yet been determined. Two women, aged 26 and 27, were also arrested.
Police said the three arrested individuals may face drug-related charges, though the charges had not yet been finalized.
The investigation remains ongoing.
