Beausoleil Fire and Rescue crews responded to two separate calls involving people in distress on Georgian Bay over the Labour Day weekend.

Around 4:20 p.m. Saturday, crews were called after a pleasure craft sank northwest of Giant’s Tomb Island in Georgian Bay.

Five people were on board when the vessel went down. Fire and rescue crews brought everyone safely out of the water, and no injuries were reported.

Later that same day, crews responded to another emergency in the Cawaja Beach area. Three people were involved in that incident and were also rescued safely.

No injuries were reported in either response.
