Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into an incident in Oxford Mills where a 15-month-old child was struck by a car driven by an on-duty officer.
According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the incident occurred shortly after noon on Friday when the officer, who was at their private residence in Grenville County, was moving a personal vehicle in their driveway. The child suffered serious injuries and was taken to a regional trauma center, where they are currently in stable condition.
The SIU has taken over the investigation and has assigned four investigators, including a forensic expert and a collision reconstructionist. The agency has also designated four witness officials and one subject official.

The SIU investigates police conduct in cases involving serious injury, death, sexual assault, or firearm discharge. Oxford Mills is located about 70 kilometers south of Ottawa.
