The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating an arrest in Rockland after a man was injured during the incident.

Ontario Provincial Police say officers responded around 9:45 a.m. Friday to reports of a speeding vehicle linked to multiple collisions near Heritage Drive and Patricia Street. The driver, believed to be impaired, allegedly struck two locations and did not remain at the scene.

Police located the suspect, conducted a traffic stop, and attempted to remove him from the vehicle. A struggle followed before the man was restrained and taken into custody. He was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

A 27-year-old man now faces charges including assaulting and resisting a peace officer, impaired driving, and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

Due to the injury sustained during the arrest, the Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate and is examining the circumstances surrounding the interaction between the man and officers.
