Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a serious crash that followed a police pursuit in Lindsay early Sunday morning.
The Special Investigations Unit says a Kawartha Lakes officer had been responding to a 911 call and located a BMW shortly before 3:30 a.m. When the officer stopped behind the parked vehicle, the driver fled, leading to a pursuit.
During the chase, the BMW struck a parked car and ended up on top of another vehicle. The 21-year-old male driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while a 32-year-old female passenger was transported to a Toronto hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the pursuit along Victoria Avenue South, between Russell Street West and Glenelg Street West, to come forward.
