Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating a serious two-vehicle collision in Etobicoke that occurred after a driver allegedly fled a Toronto police traffic stop.

The crash happened just after midnight at Carlingview Drive and Disco Road when the fleeing Acura collided with a Ford Escape. Three occupants of the Ford Escape were taken to a trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while two others suffered minor injuries.

Police said the Acura’s three occupants—two teenagers and an 18-year-old—ran from the scene but were quickly arrested without serious injuries.

The Special Investigations Unit has assigned investigators, forensic specialists and a collision reconstructionist to examine the incident.
