Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is seeking witnesses to a collision in Sudbury involving a police cruiser and a cyclist that occurred on the morning of October 18. The crash, which took place around 8:50 a.m., happened when a marked police cruiser heading west on Lorne Street collided with a cyclist traveling north from Regent Street.
The cyclist sustained serious, though non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to the hospital by paramedics.
Due to the involvement of police in an incident where a civilian was injured, the SIU is conducting an investigation to understand the circumstances. A spokesperson from the SIU stated they would release preliminary details later on Monday.
