Six people were transported to hospital following a serious crash in Aylmer early Tuesday morning. Elgin OPP and emergency crews were called to the scene around 1:15 a.m. for a three-vehicle collision involving a minivan and two sedans.
Police say one of the vehicles struck three pedestrians who had stopped to help someone whose vehicle was stuck in a ditch. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
County Road 73, also known as Imperial Road, was closed between Ron McNeil Line and College Line for several hours while officers investigated. The roadway reopened at about 5:20 a.m.
OPP are urging drivers to slow down, remain alert, and maintain control in winter driving conditions, noting that these precautions can significantly reduce weather-related collisions.
