Multiple commercial vehicles were involved in a series of crashes on Highway 11 Wednesday morning after hazardous road conditions created by black ice.
North Bay Ontario Provincial Police reported that the collisions occurred in the northbound lanes between South River and Powassan. According to investigators, the initial crash was triggered by slippery conditions, with additional transport trucks subsequently becoming involved.
Recovery crews worked to clear the scene, prompting a temporary closure of the northbound lanes. The highway reopened at around noon.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of vehicles involved or whether there were any injuries.
