A 26-year-old woman from Smiths Falls passed away after sustaining injuries in a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning. According to Ontario Provincial Police, the incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. when her vehicle veered off County Road 43 near Bolton Road, east of Merrickville, and struck a tree.
She was the sole occupant of the vehicle and later died in hospital. Authorities have not disclosed her identity. The collision took place roughly five kilometres from Merrickville’s downtown, 20 kilometres from Smiths Falls, and about 50 kilometres south of Ottawa.
